COLOUR MIXING, COLOUR SCANNING AND PAINT MATCHING SERVICE

CREATE YOUR OWN CUSTOM COLOUR

Bring in a sample of your favourite colour and we’ll instantly generate a unique colour formula that can be mixed into any interior or exterior paint.

Our unlimited range of colours means that you can create a truly personalised palette for every room in your home or business.

How it works

1. Bring a sample of the colour

Our colour matching team will scan the sample and create your custom colour recipe.

So that we can accurately scan and match the colour, your sample should be:

- At least the size of a 50p coin.

- Clean and dry (we are unable to scan wet surfaces).

- A solid colour.

Please note that we can't match a colour from phone or tablet screens.

2. Mixing your bespoke paint colour

Once we’ve matched your sample and have the colour recipe, you will need to choose the type of paint you require. We can create custom colours for the majority of the finishes.

Whatever you’re painting, we have a comprehensive range of finishes available to ensure that you get your desired outcome. The in-store and online teams can help you choose the right product for your project.

We then mix the colour formula into your tin of paint for you to take home. To make sure you really love your custom colour, we recommend that you try a tester pot first.

We will also provide details of the paint formulation, allowing you to purchase further quantities of your bespoke colour.

3. Archived colours

Our Dulux, Crown, Little Greene, Paint & Paper Library and Farrow & Ball paint tinting machines hold recipes for every colour that those manufacturers have ever produced. This means that their machines will still hold formulations for “archived” colours. If you have previously used a colour that is no longer shown in colour card if you can provide details of the brand & colour name and we will be able to pull up the appropriate recipe.

4. Got a question

If you are still unsure of what is required for your chosen project, please contact the team at Reeds Decorating Centre by using the “Got a question” link at the bottom of the home page.

5. Colour systems

In addition to the colour scanning technology and the colour paletes offered by each manufacturer we are also able to use the following for generating colours:

British Standard (BS)

The BS system is one of the most popular colour ranges available, with the BS4800 range having been put together from the BS 5252 framework of colours that was specifically put together for the building industry. BS Colours are widely specified in the UK.

Natural Colour System (NCS)

The NCS colour system (most commonly referenced in architecture and design) is a range of 1,950 standardised colours which is recognised worldwide and was designed to describe colours exactly as we see them - independent of language and culture.

RAL Colour System

The RAL colour system is used for defining colours and paint coatings, and is most popular in Central Europe. It is widely used in architecture, construction, industry, and road safety.
